Japanese Wood Block Printing Workshop at The Mad Patcher
About this event
Discover the art of wood block printing in this hands-on workshop where participants will carve their own custom designs and print them onto paper using naturally crafted dyes. All experience levels are welcome, and instructors will provide guidance throughout the process. Due to the use of sharp carving tools, participants must be at least 14 years old. All materials, including wood blocks, tools, and printing supplies, will be provided. Guests are also welcome to bring their own items, such as fabric or tote bags, to print on. Wood block printing is one of the oldest forms of printmaking, dating back hundreds of years and helping pave the way for modern printing techniques. From European botanical prints to Japan’s renowned Ukiyo-e artwork, the craft has played an important role in sharing art and stories across generations. Participants will leave with their hand-carved wood block to continue creating prints at home. Reserve Your Spot...
