Classical Music Listening Club at Teton County Library
About this event
Youthful Spirit and Mature Mastery: Samuel Barber’s The School for Scandal Overture and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 1 were both composed while their respective composers were still in college, while Haydn penned his Trumpet Concerto at the age of 64. How does the age and life experience of composers shape the sound of their music? In this session, we’ll look at works written in both the early and late stages of composers’ careers… and maybe a few midlife crisis pieces too! Dive into classical music with the Grand Teton Music Festival! Suitable for interested novices and seasoned fans alike, this adult education group will explore the history, theory and stories behind epic classical works each week. Led by Stoner Family Education Curator Meaghan Heinrich, prepare for the coming weekend’s Festival Orchestra concerts or simply join the discussion in the Classical Music Listening Club....
